Belize Hotels, etc.
See how Belize First magazine rated 225 of the hotels of Belize.
Like anywhere else, your best bet is to have some sort of kitchen access. Even if you don't
want to cook much, it is great to be able to not have to go out to eat if you don't feel like it and to have
coffee or tea well before restaurants open in the morning.
(This list was placed here originally from Belize Business E-Mail and Website Directory with their permission,
but it has been considerably changed . Since posting it, I have edited the list considerably and have also decided to
weed out the ones that are just too expensive without what I would call redeeming features as I get to them.

Here are hostels or especially inexpensive Hotels.
For cheaper hotels in less traveled places than these, check the main location
below these to see if I listed one that I noticed to be less expensive first.
Ambergris Caye - Pedro's Inn
Caye Caulker
Sandy Lane Guest House has cabanas with "cooking facilities".
Tina's Backpackers Hostel. There are a lot of others.

Cayo/San Ignacio
- Clarissa Falls Lodge (an affordable resort)
Venus Hotel (in Town)
Cosmos Camping is 1/2 mile north of Cayo.
The Trek Stop is over toward Xunantunich
Glover's Atoll
Glover's Atoll Resort has affordable lodging that includes the
boat ride there and kitchen use.
Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary itself has camping, bunks and private rooms.
Monkey River
Enna's Guest House (no longer online)

Sunset Inn also has canoe rentals and fishing trips.
Placencia
Lydia's Guest House in Placencia is especially inexpensive when you take into account the shared kitchen
with microwave. The porches are big and have two hammocks and some comfortable chairs on both. This leads to pleasant conversations and camaraderie. Both times I have stayed there, a group of us got together to arrange a trip together. Reservations are as good idea.

Punta Gorda
Tate's Guest House looks like a good budget choice with a common kitchen. It is small, so you might want to reserve.
San Ignacio
Venus Hotel --- no longer online in Feb 2006
Falconview Bak Pak Hostel is "two miles from the San Ignacio Bus station"
includes the use of a kitchen and arranges tours.

Blackbird Caye
House Rentals Caulker Cabaņas. This can be a good option if you want to be able to cook and can pay by the week. Caye Caulker Rentals. Try this if you want a house there. The best deals as of March 2004 were one for three people at $50 a night and one for six at $100, all in US dollars. Sandy Lane Guest House has cabanas with "cooking facilities".
Caribbean Village Casablanca by the Sea, no prices I could find and it looks expensive.
Hotel Maya
Ionie's Bed and Breakfast. Listed as under $20.
Glover's Atoll Resort has affordable housing that includes the boat ride there and kitchen use.
Yugadah Inn sounds like the least expensive online hotel Seagulls's Nest has rooms and a cottage. Rooms have access to a fridge and coffee maker. Hopkins Inn bed & breakfast Sandy Beach Lodge, Hopkins -- offline
Light House Reef
Tutzil Nah is not expensive and allows people to stay in a small Maya village.
Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary The sanctuary itself has camping, bunks and private rooms.

Tipple Tree Beya Hotel. Not horribly expensive.
D-Victoria Hotel is not all that expensive and has a pool. Hotel de la Fuente is affordable and also has a good range of accommodations for those who want to spend more.
Near Orange Walk Lamanai Outpost Lodge (very expensive)

Barracuda & Jaguar Inn Lydia's Guest House is a good place for a single or couple, but don't expect two beds and do try to get a room in back and away from the front doors. Sea spray Hotel has some more expensive rooms with kitchenettes Extended stay apartments and houses Blue Lagoon Apartments and Rooms looks good if you plan to stay by the week and want a kitchen. Carol's Cabanas looks great for this.
Punta Gorda
Mahung's Guest House & Grocery Store Tate's Guest House looks like a good budget choice with a common Kitchen
Near Punta Gorda
Rio Blanco National Park has camping and furnished dorms.
St. Georges Caye
San Ignacio, Cayo District Casa Blanca Guest House has a kitchen.
Clarissa Falls Lodge (an affordable resort) Midas Tropical Resort looks nice and is not terribly expensive. Venus Hotel (affordable and in Town)
San Jose Succotz (near Xunantunich ruins) The Trek Stop. It sounds pretty good and inexpensive.

from the Xunantunich ferry has camping. Glover's Cay
Glover's Atoll Resort camping has kitchen use included. Hopkins
Jungle Jeanie's has camping.

I recall a small group in 2004 who showed up,
expecting to camp, and I am not sure what they ended up doing. I think
they probably found rooms here and there.
