Interesting non-Budget Trips
I am including this page to explain that, although I am firmly on the side of budget travel, there are a few somewhat expensive trips out there that are worth taking a look at if your strategy is not to see as much as possible or for as little cash as possible. The ones at Far Horizons are for people who are willing to spend more money than I am, and who would like to learn about the Maya with highly knowledgeable leaders and want to go among fellow enthusiasts. Far Horizons have a number of quality trips to Maya and other areas. Check out Far Horizons. My particular favorite of the ones they do would be the Capital Cities of the Ancient Maya; Copán, Tikal, Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilán.
Not quite as expensive, but also intriguing are learning tours of Maya areas with The Maya Exploration Center.
Funky Tours has a number of trips that are not terribly expensive and look like they provide people with a wide range of opportunities to see Maya areas.
Beyond Touring deals mostly with Belize and has a range of ecological tours catering to groups.
Mayatour does a wide variety of interesting sounding tours among the Maya.
