Are you going to visit Santa Cruz la Laguna?

You can help Biblioteca La Cruceñita by taking books in Spanish or Kaqchikel to Santa Cruz. You can either drop them off at La Iguana Perdida or hike up the hill to donate them directly and see the pueblo.

To drop them off, be sure to include the following information attached to the package:

BIBLIOTECA LA CRUCEÑITA
c/o Merlina Barnes (5742 8070)
or Marta Cumes, Bibliotecaria (4524 7775)

Biblioteca La Cruceñita is open from  9-12  &  2-8 PM  Monday to Friday in case you wish to see the library or drop books off personally.

The librarian is looking for more books for this small Kaqchikel pueblo. Good books to take are ones of any topic that will expand basic ideas and motivate curiosity.  Also welcome are books involving vocational skills, such as drawing, carpentry, welding and electricity. Health Information for mothers and babies is good as well. Picture books without words are also universally loved.

As for me, I am always a big fan of libraries, but if you want to find out ways the  Amigos de Santa Cruz

are working to improve the quality of life there, check their website.
